Thomas Heller 5f52f7230c Checked in with Andrew's blessing, I leave the comments with which
this was posted to distutils-sig in.

Here is what I've hacked together over some spare time
at the weekend. I would appreciate feedback, as I've told
before I'm neither a great author, nor native english speaker,
nor anything else.

Mostly I've completed (and written) docs for bdist_wininst
(where I'm an experert for), also I've started some stuff
for the data_files and scripts option.

Should I continue in this way? Would others like to jump in?

Barry Warsaw 30dbd1429a Document the two changes to the mailbox.py module:
- All constructors grow an optional argument `factory' which is a
callable used when new message instances are created by the next()
methods. Defaults to the rfc822.Message class.

- A new subclass of UnixMailbox is added, called PortableUnixMailbox.
It's identical to UnixMailbox, but uses a more portable test for
From_ delimiter lines. With PortableUnixMailbox, any line that
starts with "From " is considered a delimiter (this should really
check for two newlines before the F, but it doesn't.

Fred Drake e463f8e4cd A few small refinements to the table building code. 2000-11-30 07:17:27 +00:00
Fred Drake c01f6e691b Use a table to describe the keys to the locale information dictionary;
this is slightly easier to read than the list environment that had been
used.
2000-11-30 07:13:58 +00:00
Fred Drake e0b9deb3ce Use small tables instead of bare \item markers to describe the contents
of return tuples. The bare \item took advantage of an implementation
detail when formatting in LaTeX, and was just wrong when generating HTML.
It also broke the XML conversion scripts, since there was no enclosing
list-like environment to contain them.

" (in <name>)" to be consistent with \withsubitem
usage throughout the documentation. This achieves
consistency in indexing throughout the documentation.
2000-10-30 06:24:56 +00:00
Fred Drake ec77e6590d Fix \withsubitem so that it actually works if the only indexing macro in
the content body is the \ttindex macro, which seems to match actual usage.

Adjust \funcline to restore the "index sub-item" for functions to be
" (in module <name>)" instead of " (in <name>)". This is need to match
uses of \withsubitem throughout the documentation. (Not ideal, but
gets achieves consistency.)

Fred Drake a33c566138 Avoid using \withsubitem and \ttindex internally; they have not proven

wrong parenthesized description.

Fred Drake 5f84c9b55e $OFF_SITE_LINK_ICON: Don't define here; simply defining it overrides a
definition provided by previously loaded configuration code, and
testing whether it's defined isn't needed since the default was
        false anyway.

get_link_icon(): Add support for $OFF_SITE_LINK_ICON_HEIGHT and
$OFF_SITE_LINK_ICON_WIDTH, giving the dimensions of the icon
being used. This can make for faster page display. Both are
        optional.

make_my_titlegraphic(): Fix insertion of the off-site icon link.

do_env_funcdesc():  Remove debugging print.

handle_rfclike_reference(): Remove trailing colon from first line; it

Marc-André Lemburg d1ba443206 This patch adds a new Python C API called PyString_AsStringAndSize()
which implements the automatic conversion from Unicode to a string
object using the default encoding.

The new API is then put to use to have eval() and exec accept
Unicode objects as code parameter. This closes bugs #110924
and #113890.

As side-effect, the traditional C APIs PyString_Size() and
PyString_AsString() will also accept Unicode objects as
parameters.

Fred Drake aef0e890b5 Document the limitation that urllib does not work with proxies which
require authenication. This is an implementation limitation rather than
required behavior, and may be fixed in the future.

This closes SourceForge bug #111725.

Sjoerd Mullender 1c8feae411 New method getnamespace.
Since the application never gets to see the namespace abbreviation
used in the XML document, but some applications may need to know them,
we provide this method.

Fred Drake f730fc3e4e Be a little more careful to avoid including style information in the
generated markup.

Don't be careless with the navigation icons! We should use the blank
icon where there is not anyplace to go for a particular position in the
navigation bar.

Fred Drake 501b926da9 Move common parameters to mkhowto to a variable, add up-link from the
generated documents to the document index.

Fred Drake dfa539d770 Add --up-link and --up-title parameters to allow linking the top level
of the generated document to an external index. These correspond to the
-up_url and -up_title parameters of LaTeX2HTML.

Fred Drake 3be2074758 Push some table header formatting to the style sheet; this also helps
separate some of the ties between l2hinit.perl and python.perl.

Fred Drake 8bc627a402 Add --l2h-init option, which can augment the standard LaTeX2HTML
initialization with additional Perl files. This can be given more
than once.

Fred Drake b9b4c5b560 Centralize the processing logic for LaTeX documents into the mkhowto script;
do not use mkdvi.sh or mkhtl.sh any more.

This slows down building all versions of the documentation, but if you are
only building one format, it does not matter.
