Nick Coghlan 73afe2a972 Close #20481: Disallow mixed type input in statistics

Nick Coghlan bfd68bf4ac Issue #20478: avoid special casing Counter in statistics
Passing Counter objects to the Counter constructor is
special cased, going through iter() firsts ensures they
are handled the same way as any other iterable.

SSH key is registered yet)

Ronald Oussoren 94e44a935b Issue #14455: fix handling of unsigned long long values for binary plist files
Values in the range of an unsigned long long, but outside of the range
of a signed long long were serialized as a negative value.

Due to a bug in PyObjC my test scripts indicated that the previous behavior
matched Apple's plist code, instead the handle large unsigned values correctly.

The change to plistlib.py is from a patch by Serhiy.

Nick Coghlan a9b15241c6 Close #20404: blacklist non-text encodings in io.TextIOWrapper
- io.TextIOWrapper (and hence the open() builtin) now use the

- also tweaked the C code to only look up the encoding once,
  rather than multiple times
- the existing output type checks remain in place to deal with
  unmarked third party codecs.

Victor Stinner 915bcb0111 Issue #20400: Merge Tulip into Python: add the new asyncio.subprocess module
* Add a new asyncio.subprocess module
* Add new create_subprocess_exec() and create_subprocess_shell() functions
* The new asyncio.subprocess.SubprocessStreamProtocol creates stream readers
for stdout and stderr and a stream writer for stdin.
* The new asyncio.subprocess.Process class offers an API close to the
  subprocess.Popen class:

  - pid, returncode, stdin, stdout and stderr attributes
  - communicate(), wait(), send_signal(), terminate() and kill() methods

* Remove STDIN (0), STDOUT (1) and STDERR (2) constants from base_subprocess
and unix_events, to not be confused with the symbols with the same name of
  subprocess and asyncio.subprocess modules
* _ProactorBasePipeTransport.get_write_buffer_size() now counts also the size
  of the pending write
* _ProactorBaseWritePipeTransport._loop_writing() may now pause the protocol if
the write buffer size is greater than the high water mark (64 KB by default)

- Unit tests use the main asyncio module instead of submodules like events

- _UnixWritePipeTransport now also supports character devices, as

- Export more symbols: BaseEventLoop, BaseProactorEventLoop,

Larry Hastings 2a727916c5 Issue #20226: Major improvements to Argument Clinic.
* You may now specify an expression as the default value for a
parameter! Example: "sys.maxsize - 1". This support is
intentionally quite limited; you may only use values that
can be represented as static C values.
* Removed "doc_default", simplified support for "c_default"
and "py_default". (I'm not sure we still even need
"py_default", but I'm leaving it in for now in case a
  use presents itself.)
* Parameter lines support a trailing '\\' as a line
continuation character, allowing you to break up long lines.
* The argument parsing code generated when supporting optional
groups now uses PyTuple_GET_SIZE instead of PyTuple_GetSize,
leading to a 850% speedup in parsing. (Just kidding, this
  is an unmeasurable difference.)
* A bugfix for the recent regression where the generated
prototype from pydoc for builtins would be littered with
unreadable "=<object ...>"" default values for parameters
  that had no default value.
* Converted some asserts into proper failure messages.
* Many doc improvements and fixes.

R David Murray 2313e15578 #20206, #5803: more efficient algorithm that doesn't truncate output.
This fixes an edge case (20206) where if the input ended in a character
needing encoding but there was no newline on the string, the last byte
of the encoded character would be dropped. The fix is to use a more
efficient algorithm, provided by Serhiy Storchaka (5803), that does not
have the bug.

Fix a crash when a generator is created in a C thread that is destroyed while

and the frame kept a reference to the Python state of the destroyed C thread.
The crash occurs when a trace function is setup.

R David Murray d5c4c7411a #19063: partially fix set_payload handling of non-ASCII string input.

MvL would like to be able to preserve CPython's existing clean
uninstall behaviour on Windows before enabling the pip
installation option by default.

This private CLI means running "python -m ensurepip._uninstall"
will remove pip and setuptools before proceeding with the rest
of the uninstallation process.

If the version of pip differs from the one bootstrapped by
CPython, then the uninstallation helper will leave it alone
(just like any other pip installed packages)

Brett Cannon d2476c6e4b Issue #19698: Remove exec_module() from the built-in and extension
module loaders.

Due to the fact that the call signatures for extension modules and
built-in modules does not allow for the specifying of what module to
initialize and that on Windows all extension modules are built-in
modules, work to clean up built-in and extension module initialization
will have to wait until Python 3.5. Because of this the semantics of
exec_module() would be incorrect, so removing the methods for now is
the best option; load_module() is still used as a fallback by
importlib and so this won't affect semantics.
