Segregated code shared between time and datetime modules into
Modules/_time.c. Added a new header file, Modules/_time.h, which
will be used instead of Include/timefuncs.h for declarations shared
between time and datetime modules.
the curses module must be linked against ncurses as well. Otherwise it
is not safe to load both the readline and curses modules in an application.

the SystemConfiguration framework to detect the

POSIX systems with a C extension module. This is required in order for
the subprocess module to be made thread safe.
The pure python implementation is retained so that it can continue to be
used if for some reason the _posixsubprocess extension module is not
available.
The unittest executes tests on both code paths to guarantee compatibility.
* Moves PyLong_FromPid and PyLong_AsPid from posixmodule.c into longobject.h.

Always compile the all versions of the hashlib algorithm modules when Python
was compiled with Py_DEBUG defined. Otherwise the builtins are not compiled by
default for many developers due to OpenSSL being present, making it easier for
bugs to slip by. A future commit will add test code compare the behaviors of
all implementations when they are all available.

Change framework search order when looking for Tcl/Tk on OSX.
This is needed because the system linker looks in /Library/Framework before
it looks in /System/Library frameworks. Without this patch _tkinter will
be unusable when it is compiled on a system that has Tk 8.5 installed in
/Library/Frameworks (and the Apple 8.4 install in /System/Library/Frameworks)

The main io module now uses the C implementation. The Python one still exists
in Lib/_pyio.py for ease of testing new features and usefulness to other
implementers.
The rewrite was done by Antoine Pitrou and Amaury Forgeot d'Arc. I was slightly
helpful at the end. :)

MacOS X: Enable 4-way universal builds
This patch adds a new configure argument on OSX:
--with-universal-archs=[32-bit|64-bit|all]
When used with the --enable-universalsdk option this controls which
CPU architectures are includes in the framework. The default is 32-bit,
meaning i386 and ppc. The most useful alternative is 'all', which includes
all 4 CPU architectures supported by MacOS X (i386, ppc, x86_64 and ppc64).
This includes limited support for the Carbon bindings in 64-bit mode as well,
limited because (a) I haven't done extensive testing and (b) a large portion
of the Carbon API's aren't available in 64-bit mode anyway.
I've also duplicated a feature of Apple's build of python: setting the
environment variable 'ARCHFLAGS' controls the '-arch' flags used for building
extensions using distutils.

On HPUX, -fPIC must be used for linking. _ctypes now builds on HP-UX

Fix test_distutils to not fail when running 'make test' from a Python build
directory that is not the source directory (ie, one created using
'/path/to/source/configure'.) Leaves this test very slightly degraded in
that particular case, compared to the build-in-sourcedir case, but that case
isn't a particularly strong test either: neither test the actual path that
will be used after installing. There isn't a particularly good way to test
this, and a poor test beats a failing test.

Use a condition variable (threading.Event) rather than sleeps and checking a
global to determine when the server is ready to be used. This slows the test
down, but should make it correct. There was a race condition before where the
server could have assigned a port, yet it wasn't ready to serve requests. If
the client sent a request before the server was completely ready, it would get
an exception. There was machinery to try to handle this condition. All of
that should be unnecessary and removed if this change works. A NOTE was
added as a comment about what needs to be fixed.
The buildbots will tell us if there are more errors or
if this test is now stable.

tuple.__repr__ did not consider a reference loop as it is not possible from
Python code; but it is possible from C. object.__str__ had the issue of not
expecting a type to doing something within it's tp_str implementation that
could trigger an infinite recursion, but it could in C code.. Both found
thanks to BaseException and how it handles its repr.
Closes issue #1686386. Thanks to Thomas Herve for taking an initial stab at
coming up with a solution.

Made the various is_* operations return booleans. This was discussed
with Cawlishaw by mail, and he basically confirmed that to these is_*
operations, there's no need to return Decimal(0) and Decimal(1) if
the language supports the False and True booleans.
Also added a few tests for the these functions in extra.decTest, since
they are mostly untested (apart from the doctests).

Let the O/S supply a port if none of the default ports can be used.
This should make the tests more robust at the expense of allowing
tests to be sloppier by not requiring them to cleanup after themselves.
(It will legitamitely help when running two test suites simultaneously
or if another process is already using one of the predefined ports.)
Also simplifies (slightLy) the exception handling elsewhere.

Issue #1580738. When HTTPConnection reads the whole stream with read(),
it closes itself. When the stream is read in several calls to read(n),
it should behave in the same way if HTTPConnection knows where the end
of the stream is (through self.length). Added a test case for this

Fix a weird bug in dbtables: if it chose a random rowid string that contained

The constructor from tuple was way too permissive: it allowed bad
coefficient numbers, floats in the sign, and other details that

Backport fixes for the code that decodes octal escapes (and for PyString
