Victor Stinner e6eafa2ade Issue #10801: Fix test_unicode_filenames() of test_zipfile 
Just try to open files from the ZIP for reading, don't extract them to avoid
UnicodeEncodeError if the filename is not encodable to the filesystem encoding
(e.g. ASCII locale encoding).

Éric Araujo 2b612220e4 Clean up extra environment variable after packaging tests. 
packaging.util.check_environ will define HOME and PLAT if they don’t exist; for
some reason, it does not define PLAT when running the tests from a checkout (so
no regrtest warning) but does when running from an installed Python.

Cleaning up the envvar in test_dist fixes the warning on my machine, but I
suspect that a test runner using a different order to run files or running them
in parallel may have PLAT defined in its environment because of another test.
Quite a lot of code ends up calling check_environ; maybe we should just clean
up PLAT in every test.  For now I’m doing this simple fix, we’ll see if we get
bug reports.

Éric Araujo f53cd89006 Fix omission in test for packaging install_distinfo command. 
The code does not write checksum or file length for .pyc and .pyo in the RECORD
file, in compliance with PEP 376, but the test forgot to take .pyo into
account.  This was not caught because there were no .pyo in the checkout, but
after installing there are .pyo files created by compileall, and the test picks
them up.

Éric Araujo 0a975f957d Fix example in packaging test_config. 
The example C extension used the “three.fast_taunt” name, but no “three” parent
was defined in the setup.cfg.  This did not cause a failure nor even print a
warning, we may want to change that.

Brian Curtin 9a82eaade3 Fix #11583. Changed os.path.isdir to use GetFileAttributes instead of os.stat. 
By changing to the Windows GetFileAttributes API in nt._isdir we can figure
out if the path is a directory without opening the file via os.stat. This has
the minor benefit of speeding up os.path.isdir by at least 2x for regular
files and 10-15x improvements were seen on symbolic links (which opened the
file multiple times during os.stat). Since os.path.isdir is used in
several places on interpreter startup, we get a minor speedup in startup time.

people can link to the glossary entry or the abc module without it.

Two indentation fixes from 3.2 collections.rst have been ported to 3.3

test.support.requires_mac_ver() is now a decorator, as suggested by Ezio
Melotti, and its docstring is fixed (linux_version => mac_ver).

Éric Araujo a94bdee2e4 Fix nonsensical name. 
The code used “long” to refer to a long option (e.g. --quiet), which was
probably changed by 2to3 and not caught by the human operator, and then
changed to “integer” by me to avoid shadowing without seeing the real
obvious fix.

Éric Araujo 489c8ff26b Fix test_build_py when sys.dont_write_bytecode is true (#9831). 
The tests now pass all combinations of -O/-OO and -B.  See also #7071
and #6292 for previous variations on the same theme.

test_versionpredicate needs a skip when sys.flags.optimize is true, but
I don’t know how to make that work with a DocTestSuite.

Gregory P. Smith 59fd1bfcc1 The _posixsubprocess module is now required on POSIX. 
Remove the pure Python POSIX subprocess implementation.

If non-CPython VMs (are there any for 3.x yet?) were somehow depending
on this, they already have the exact same set of problems with Python
code being executed after os.fork() that _posixsubprocess was written
to deal with.  They should implement an equivalent outside of Python.

pure Python subprocess code on POSIX platforms anymore.  This at least
tests it properly in this stable branch.  The pure python code for
this is likely to be removed in 3.3.

Senthil Kumaran 5e826e8a1b Fix closes issue #11109 - socketserver.ForkingMixIn leaves zombies, also fails to reap all zombies in one pass. 
A new method called service_action is made available in BaseServer, called by
serve_forever loop. This useful in cases where Mixins can use it for cleanup
action. ForkingMixin class uses service_action to collect the zombie child
processes. Initial Patch by Justin Wark.
