test_getgroups as introduced with issue7900 failed on systems
where 'id -G' and posix.getgroups() returned the same information,
but one of the sources contains duplicate information. Rewrite the
check using sets instead of lists.

Fix for issue 9367: the test code for os.getgroups
assumes that the result of getgroups and the output
of the id(1) command return groups in the same
order. That assumption is both fragile and false.

This fixes issue7900 by adding code that deals
with the fact that getgroups(2) might return
  more that MAX_GROUPS on OSX.

See the issue (and python-dev archives) for the
gory details. Summarized: OSX behaves rather oddly
and Apple says this is intentional.

R. David Murray b0c828ae4a Try to fix Solaris buildbot rmtree failure in test_getcwd_long_pathnames
cleanup. If this fix works, it means that Solaris is unique among
our platforms in what happens when shutil.rmtree is called on the
current working directory (ie: it doesn't work on Solaris, but
it does everywhere else).
2009-07-09 18:41:03 +00:00
R. David Murray 6fcf7cae5c Temporarily ignore rmtree errors in test_getcwd_long_pathnames to see
if the test gives useful failure info on Solaris buildbot.

R. David Murray 95fb46c977 Restore skips of posix and pty tests on Windows by calling the
test_support.import_module on the appropriate modules
before any other imports.
2009-04-21 13:06:04 +00:00
R. David Murray 59beec326a Add import_function method to test.test_support, and modify a number of
tests that expect to be skipped if imports fail or functions don't
exist to use import_function and import_module. The ultimate goal is
to change regrtest to not skip automatically on ImportError. Checking
in now to make sure the buldbots don't show any errors on platforms
I can't direct test on.

Facundo Batista 5596b0cfc2 Issue #2722. Now the char buffer to support the path string has
not fixed length, it mallocs memory if needed. As a result, we
don't have a maximum for the getcwd() method.

Gregory P. Smith f48da8fbcd Fix chown on 64-bit linux. It needed to take a long (64-bit on 64bit linux) as
uid and gid input to accept values >=2**31 as valid while still accepting
negative numbers to pass -1 to chown for "no change".

Fixes issue1747858.

This should be backported to release25-maint.

Skip Montanaro 94785ef142 Correct implementation and documentation of os.confstr. Add a simple test

Walter Dörwald 21d3a32b99 Combine the functionality of test_support.run_unittest()
and test_support.run_classtests() into run_unittest()
and use it wherever possible.

Also don't use "from test.test_support import ...", but
"from test import test_support" in a few spots.

From SF patch #662807.

Neal Norwitz 71b13e8b4c Fix SF bug #690081, test_posix fails when run in non-interactive mode

import from test.test_support instead of directly from test_support.
