Fred Drake 41814bc51f In package Override, use the getcwd() function from the Cwd module instead of 
the one from Override.pm (part of latex2html).

Absolutize the TEXINPUTS environment variable, since we can't count on
latex2html doing it for us (even though I sent in a patch, and it really
should).

Fred Drake 445cfd339c l2h target: Do the "right thing" regarding the paper-*/ subdirs as the other

specifying *which* type of path to search.  This works for both
	teTeX 0.4 and 0.9.  This is what we call portability these days!  ;-)

Fred Drake f295113f1f Cleaned out some more cruft. 
Added some new cruft.

For some of the "big" targets, force things to happen in the "right"
subdirectory, i.e., "make" will build the DVI and PostScript files in the
paper-letter/ directory, and "make PAPER=a4" will build DVI and PostScript
files in the paper-a4/ directory.

Probably still needs some restructuring.

Some targets may be a little raw, but the basic formatting targets are all
tested, primarily for use from the subdirs.  There are probably a few
gotchas, and the paper-*/ directories could use "helper" Makefiles.

Fred Drake 5360879740 New helper script to build the .dvi for a Python manual; usable for the

Fred Drake b4929a794e Paper size / font size configuration file. 
This is separated so I can build A4 and US Letter sizes without having to
edit files.

Anyone who downloads the source package can also simply edit this file,
which is a lot shorter than the manual.cls file, and easier to find the
appropriate line.

Fred Drake 255284b42a Fix problem for the Library Reference where high-numbered sections of 
high-numbered chapters took too much space for the section number in the
table of contents.  This makes the section number and title not overlap.

Fred Drake a88d681255 Change the form of the name given to each page of the PDF from "page.%d" to 
"page.%dx"; this works around an acroread bug that causes targets not to be
recognized if their name is a prefix of another target in the file.

Fred Drake 2cb824cbf9 Don't use \samp when \code is better. 
Consistently use ' instead of ":  this conforms to my unofficial stance that
constants should be presented using the repr() whenever it makes sense.  This
isn't because I think repr() is the greatest thing since spam, just that it's
an easy to adopt consistency standard.  (It also holds no new surprises!)

Fred Drake 45c634ecae Work around a small (& annoying) limitation of the latex2html support for 
\seemodule.  This is far easier than figuring out the real problem, but it

is the full release version name ("1.5.1beta1", for instance).

Add section for previously documented obsolete modules.  Includes ni, rand,

Fred Drake 166abbabf9 Remove option to strip out <tt>...</tt> from index entry text; this is now 
left to the buildindex.py script.

Change the field separator used in the index.dat file so utilities like grep
are useful on these files; they can't typically handle NUL bytes.

Protect index entries for environment variables from being handled as
case-insensitive by buildindex.py.

Fred Drake 3f3c25fc03 Set flag to remove <tt>...</tt> markup from the index entries; it just ends up 
looking really bad in popular browsers, mostly due to vertical size differences
between the roman and monospaced fonts.
