The feature is enabled by default but has a bug where it gives "stuck" gyro values for short periods (between 1ms and 2ms):, leading to a significant gyro bias at longer time scales, enough to in some cases cause a vehicle to crash if it is unable to switch to an alternative IMU this fixes https://github.com/ArduPilot/ardupilot/issues/25025	2023-10-22 15:09:40 +11:00

Scaling is applied so that a commanded servo PWM of <=1000 maps to SERVOn_MIN, a PWM of 1500 maps to SERVOn_TRIM, and a PWM of >=2000 maps to SERVOn_MAX. This was never a problem with the main firmware as EFI was run at a lower rate, but on AP_Periph this was much to fast. This lead to spamming fresh requests and keeping the buffer completly stuffed with requests. To compound it, the EFI device would start over when there was a fresh request, and eventually our buffer writes become corrupted leading to bad checksums, and a complete failure of the comms. Peter Barker	1208938d3b	SITL: fix balancebot yaw reset to be kinimatically consistent ... ... or at least closer to it. We were hard-resetting the yaw to zero when the vehicle was upright. That makes for huge simulated gyro rates, and that means the differences between the gyros can be huge sample-to-sample, so we can get gyros-inconsistent errors. Note that this was asking for the *configured* backend type, rather than the active EKF type, making these clauses even stranger. This also changes the definition of the "primary IMU index" to be whichever gyro is active rather than the accel. An example is math.random() which calls math_random(), which pre-calculates a double value before checking if the arguments to the call are valid. This has been broken as far back as 2018, as we only called add_input() if we were in the SUMD or SUMD failsafe cases, which meant SUMH didn't work. This commits to that path, and removes all the 8 bit CRC, SUMH support. This also refactors a number of things for readability (condensing white space, simplifying guards around debug code).
